Urinary Tract Infections and Sex?

My husband and I have unprotected sex and I have a feeling it has been the cause of my urinary tract infections. I can pinpoint a couple of them in the past where we had anal and then vaginal sex. I know that can obviously transmit bacteria into the urethra. Can the same thing happen doing oral and then vaginal intercourse? I want to figure out the best way to prevent these infections. I have had about 5 of them in the last 2 years!

We don't do butt to vag sex anymore. I learned my lesson real quick after that UTI.

One nickname for a U.T.I. is 'the newlywed disease', because sex and U.T.I.'s definitely go hand-in-hand.

One thing that helps a lot is to always go pee after sex.... this goes for a guy too! It will naturally clean out the tract.

If you are going to be doing anal, then I'd suggest you have vaginal intercourse first.... what you're doing can be very harmful, as you know.

I would think that with all of the germs in one's mouth, the oral may also be a culprit!

Other tips are drink lots of water, cranberry juice (or pill) and/or orange juice. They should help prevent an infection.

I think you have to be very careful when having anal sex. He should never touch your vagina again after until he washes. You can get a very bad urinary tract infection that may spread to your kidneys making you very very sick.

waooh.. you should always use a condom if you're gonna have anal sex. u can take it off when u go vaginal. as for oral sex... i'm not sure if you can transmit any disease or bacteria, I do it.. but nothing has happened.

Bacteria getting into your urethra, and then into your bladder is the primary cause of UTI鈥檚. This commonly happens during sex due to the forceful thrusting, and the introduction of foreign bacteria. To prevent this, make sure you pee shortly after sex.

You can also introduce bacteria to your urethra thorough a variety of other methods 鈥?like a vigorous work-out on a bike. A bike seat pushing into your vulva is just what bacteria are looking for. Sure it feels great at the time, but bacteria getting in where they don鈥檛 belong will make it cost you later.

Any source of bacteria that can find it鈥檚 way into your bladder can cause a UTI. Another common cause is wearing panties 鈥?in fact some girls who have a lot of trouble with UTI鈥檚 are not able to wear panties at all.

I had trouble with UTIs for awhile, my gyn. told me to urinate before and after sex.

all you can do is make sure that you PEE after ANYTHING happens. anything at all. i know what you mean, and its miserable. just make sure that hes clean and so are you...good luck!
