I usually get Urinary Tract Infections after having sex?

Most of the time after I have sex I get an Urinary Tract Infections and I carry all these symptoms:

* A strong, persistent urge to urinate
* A burning sensation when urinating
* Passing frequent, small amounts of urine
* Blood in the urine (hematuria) or cloudy, strong-smelling urine

It's very painful so whenever this starts to happen I would take my mom's vaccine to help it but I'm getting tire of always having the thought of needing medication after sex .. and I don't do anal sex or anything like that.. just regular sex & oral with protection of course. I told my friend about it and she ask could i possibly be allergic to condoms/latex ones? I wonder to.. >< my question is how can I still have sex w/o getting an UTI again&again and preventions?

If you have blood in the urine, you should have this checked out by a doctor.

To avoid getting UTIs, always pee after sex. No exceptions. Never have vaginal intercourse right after anal intercourse. Drinks lots of water.

my advice to you would be to make an appointment to discuss this with your physician ASAP because blood in urine is a symptom of UTI and kidney disease and could be lethal. Easy to detect with a dipstick or a culture test.
There are also home test that you can use, ask your dr.
*Also, it is very dangerous to take someones else's prescription medicine*

Since you have been noticing that it happens after sex then here are some tips that might help:
Clean prior and after intercourse
urinate within 15 minutes of intercourse
take showers not baths
wipe front to back
practice good hygene, make sure that partner does as well
Dont resist urge to urinate, dont hold it in.
Drink plenty of liquids, cranberry juice is believed to help.
NEVER douche- you are killing your natural flora and leaving your vagina unprotected against bacterial invasion.

Over the counter medications:
Cystex/AZO/Uristat-Dont cure just control pain
cranberry tablets-preventative
vitamin c
Arctostaphylos uva ursi-herbal remedy
Grapefruit Seed Extract

I would advise you get checked for STD's just for good measure.Buy Non-latex condoms, latex allergies are very common.
Good luck. Hope this helps.

Talk to your doctor, you may be alergic to the condoms, try a spermicide? or birthcontrol pills... Or the patch...
Talk to your doc though

I hate to ask this, but is the guy circumcised? Sometimes if they aren't they carry bacteria under the skin. That could be the problem.

Drink lots of water, and go to the bathroom after sex. If you do get a UTI then drink cranberry juice, if you're like me and hate cb juice then drink crangrape. ALWAYS go pee after sex and that will flush out irritants.

Many women have similar issues. The most important thing is to make sure you urinate AFTER sex. (Always no matter what!!) Then make sure you are drinking plenty of fuids, cranberry juice especially help the PH balance and helps prevent UTI's. I used to have the same problem, but since I follow this plan I haven't had as many issues with it.

Also it is a good idea to talk to your DR.

You could be allergic to the Latex condoms. I would try and use the Lamb condoms. Also to you should douche after sex. It helps to flush away all toxics you or your partner may have. If it still continues contact your doctor and they can do a complete pap smear and find out what else could be wrong.

That used to happen to me quite often. Through years of trial and error and reading up on the subject, this is what has worked for me: Be sure to urinate right after sex. If you can, take a quick shower afterward as well. (Not always possible, but could be romantic!). I take cranberry tablets daily, as well as garlic. This has helped more than anything. When it really acts up I take grapefruit seed extract capsules. (This stuff kills anything that's killable, but without the bad side effects of using antibiotics which can just make your body more susceptible to infections in the long run.) If there's a lot of irritation when I urinate I drink a glass of water with a half teaspoon of baking soda in it. That really helps to soothe things!

This is what I've done and I've been virtually UTI-free for a few years now. YAY!

I was told by my gyn that you need to urinate RIGHT after you have sex to help prevent UTI's.

Lots of good advice here- but did you know that the mouth is the dirtiest part of the body? You say you have oral sex s0 that could be the problem. Bood ins the urine is not good. Strong smell and darker color of urine means yu are not getting enough fluids. Urine gets concentrated as the body tires to conserve fluids.

i have chronic urinary tract infections and my doc told me to get them under control you must not hold in your pee too long when you need to pee, pee before AND after sex( helps flush out bacteria), try not to take too many baths with irritating soaps
