Mirena and Urinary Tract Infections???

I have had mirena for about a year now and have been extremely happy but was wondering if anyone had problems with urinary tract infections? I found blood in my urine today and can only assume that it a UTI. I have never had one before? Any suggestions? Do you think it has anything to do with Mirena?

I have had Mirena about the same amount of time as you. I have never had a UTI and still haven't experienced one since having it inserted. I really don't think it has anything to do with Mirena. It is just one of those fluke things. Call your Dr and see what is going on.

I've never had/heard Mirena but I just got over a UTI. I went to the doc's b/c i was having discomfort in my lower abdomen and it felt like I was getting my period but I wasn't. Also it hurt when I urinated. These are the symptoms I believe. Bleeding might be included to. Sounds scary. Go to the doc. I hope you feel better. He gave me some antibiotics. Here's more info:

Nope. You can get a UTI without having an IUD or you can not get a UTI with and IUD. The 2 aren't related. You might want to check with your doctor to see if it's really a UTI, but be sure to mention you have an IUD in case an infection isn't the problem.
