Mirena and Urinary Tract Infections?

I have had mirena for about a year now and have been extremely happy but was wondering if anyone had problems with urinary tract infections? I found blood in my urine today and can only assume that it a UTI. I have never had one before? Any suggestions? Do you think it has anything to do with Mirena?

It MIGHT have to do somthing with Mirena.

If you experience burning and pain, then it can be a UTI..

If you have pain in your lower back and sides along with visible blood in the urine it can also be symptoms of a Kidney infection or Kidney stones.

I would go see your OB/GYN or Urologist for a check up
They will most likely take urine cultures to see your white blood cell count (usually can tell you if you have an infection)

If it is an infection you will be perscribed antibiotics..
a CATscan may also be perscribed if your doctor think it may be kidney stone related

You need to go to the doctor so they can do a UA to see if it's a UTI, also if you develop severe abdominal pain and or high fever go directly to the ER. Mirena puts you at risk for PID so they may have to do a pelvic exam depending on your symptoms.
