Question about Urinary tract infections? |
I had a urinary tract infection a few weeks ago, the second one ever in my life and it had been 15 years since I had one. I took all the medication just like I was told to, but just the last few days I feel as if it is coming back! Not as much burning but feel I have to go all the time. I have kicked up the water more than normal and started drinking some cranberry juice too. I am not sure if I should go back and get rechecked again or not. I am not sure that maybe it is something else? I never have problems like this but wonder if a high protein diet or using the same water bottle for a week would cause the bacteria? I am just curious if it isn't that what else it could be? I have no other pain or discharge or anything like that now. Just gotta go! My urine looks cloudy in the morning, but not as the day goes on. Any ideas?? I've used an OTC medicine called Uristat. It makes your urine orange (seriously) but that shows you that it's working. It helps take away the pain and also makes you urinate less often. I would take that and also go see your doctor again just to make sure there is nothing more serious going on. otherwise, things like tight pants, wearing a swim suit too long, wearing the underwear you exercised in for too long, etc. can also cause UTIs, as can pregnancy.. woman get UTI most of the time compared to the male because of the length of urinary tract. woman have shorter length, bacteria can easily spread Try cranberry pills, with the water and cranberry juice. Plus check to see if it is real cranberry juice not just concentrated stuff that don't have any juice in it. There is an OTC remedy available at Wal-Mart called AZO Standard. It is non prescription form of Azogantrasin, an old remedy for UTI's. Try it and see if it helps. Did they do a urine culture before putting you on antibiotics? Maybe they didnt use the right antibiotic and now you need another one. You know they sell over the counter test strips that you can use to dip your urine at home. If it comes up positive, call your doc and tell him you still have the UTI and need a stronger antiobiotic or request a urine culture so you know you will be using the right antibiotic. |
