How do I avoid getting urinary tract infections? |
In the last year, I've had about 4 UTI's. I'm really tired of getting them and I'm just wondering if anybody any advice for avoiding them. Could I possibly be allergic to condoms or lubrication....because I noticed that I tend to get a UTI if I have contact with condoms. Please help me. Pee before and after sex, both are important. Wash your genitals before and after. Have your partner wash before and brush his teeth and of course hands. Some positions are more prone to pushing bacteria into the urethra than others (like from behind). right after you have sex - Pee. Hi there, Pee after sex. drink plenty of water, cut back on caffeinated drinks, take cranberry suppliements, and pee after sexual intercourse. I'm willing to bet that your uti incidence goes way down. Hi.I hope this piece of information will help you a lot. First of all you must know that females are more prone to UTI than male. This is because of the shorter urethra, that can lead to infections. Since the urethra is smaller, the infective organisms can enter easily. The best way to prevent is have good personal hygiene, keep the private parts dry. This is because, microorganisms will survive in moist environment and multiply. There is a possible allergic reaction to condom. you can ask your partner, to change to a different material, that is non allergic. i know how you feel! i get them all the time it seems........and i HATE THEM!! my doctor told me what Brenda said above...pee EVERYTIME after sex, even if you dont really have to go, you need to flush out all the bacteria. i know its gross, but the bacteria around your vagina (which is normal to have, all women do, even right after a shower...) can get pushed into you when you have sex, causing the infection. There are a few things you should try, white cotton underwear ONLY, no perfumes, dyes etc in your laundry soap and body soap--anything that is going to touch your skin especially in the genital area, dye free-perfume free toilet tissue, use NON-latex condoms ( you could have a latex sensitivity) and unscented lubricants, double your water intake and make sure to get at least 64 ounces of water plus any caffeinated beverages also need to be re-couped with water as well, as caffeine dehyrates you. Some people suggest cranberry as a pill, or juice, it can help if you think it will. try to shower or wash before you have sex ( you and your partner both, you could incorporate into foreplay actually) Do not use douches as they just spread the bacteria. |

Yes. ...I used to get horrible chronic UTIs. The doctor I saw told me that besides washing every day and doing all the rest, be absolutely SURE to wear 100% cotton underwear, NEVER use pantyliners or pads... OK. They are caused by not wiping the correct way when you go to the bath room. Especially when you poop. Always wipe front to back. ...You could always make sure you and partner shower before sex or even use a babywipe before to get rid of bacteria. Also you can change positions so rubbing isn't so frequent. ...Don't let her take bubble baths.....I remember when my girls were young, their doctor told me that can cause the infections. ... |
