Sunscreen causes skin cancer?

I read several articles that say that the ingredients in sunscreen might actually be carcinogenic because they absorb into the skin and promote free radicals. And apparently ultraviolet rays promote vitamin D which reduces cancer by 77%... So should I wear or not wear sunscreen? Another question is about Neutrogena's new helioplex technology. It stabilizes and combines oxybenzone and avobenzone. Does that mean that these chemicals are now prevented from producing free radicals?

or we can just eat vitamin D pills or drink low fat milk.

Yes, you should use sunscreen. UVA rays from the sun damage the skin cell DNA and causes mutations that are responsible for the development of skin cancers and premature ageing.

However, you should avoid chemical sunscreens and stick with physical sunscreens. So look out for ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Some of the newer formulations use micronized versions so they do not leave a pasty sheen on the skin's surface like some of the original formulatons.

As for vitmain D, you only need about 5-10 minutes of sunlight a day to get the adequate amounts of vitamin D your body needs. And you can also get this vitamin D whilst wearing a sunscreen. You can get vitamin D from supplements and several food sources aswell, so there is no excuse for people not to be careful in the sun.

Everything causes cancer now, use nattural sunscreen

Ummm...no sunscreen PREVENTS skin cancer.

I prefer to eat salmon for my Vitamin D and stay out of the sun.

I certainly won't use sunscreen, the chemical reactions are too dangerous.

Our body's need vitamin D, so long as we are sensible about sitting in the sun and avoid having chemicals on the body when in the sun, we will be fine.

A.D.

I never heard that sun screen could cause cancer but maybe with the newer stuff. (extra chemicals and such)

It's true that we receive vit. D from the sun but like everything else moderation is the answer. Too much of anything can be a bad thing.

I learned in science class that pepper can cause cancer. My professor says "use in moderation." Also it has been found that children are at risk of leukemia if they eat hotdogs once a week. Now this depends if they happen to have a certain type of bacteria in their stomach. It doesn't mean we need to freak out and not eat hotdogs.

If you are going to spend the day in the sun then use your sunscreen.

Check out the articles you read. How was the research conducted, was it duplicated.

I can remember years ago they were saying apples could cause cancer and then they changed their minds and said apples were safe. I don't know the whole story about the apples. Perhaps it was a chemical they were useing.

If your really concern show your doctor the article and see what he thinks about. It is possible their in a certain chemical in certain brands that may be bad for our skin.

If you find that all sun screens are bad then weigh your risks.

I still think no sun screen is the bigger the risk Even when the clouds are out we should where sun screen.
