Ultrasound scan in the5th/8th day of my menstruation-what for?

Hi everyone!
I had a previous ultra sound scan where a small cyst in my ovary was found and so this morning I went to the doctor to show him the ultrasound and he said the cyst was no bid deal and that I shouldn't worry about it;however, there was something in the report the doctor who performed the ultrasound wrote that my doctor seemed to find particularly interesting(I'm Portuguese so I can't translate it,something about the endometrium line or something like that)and so he asked me to have another ultrasound done,in2or3months,but when I get to either the5th or the8th day of my menstruation.I have no idea what does he want this ultrasound for...

Whatd is this type of ultrasound used for?

he may be looking for endametriosis which is often present in those who have cysts. just make sure u ask you Dr to explain all procedures so u have a good understanding of what he is doing and what u have. Its your body and u need to know how it is working and how to treat it.

He is checking to make sure that it isn't irritated during menstruation. If you don't believe the doctor, get a second opinion.

Hi Melissa, this type of ultrasound is more than likely used to check for any enlarged ovarian cysts. There just checking to on the safe side and they're also checking your endometrious, to ensure that everything is ok there.

Without seeing the exact test results and what EXACTLY they say, I'd be guessing. The endometrium is the lining of the uterus and that may be the reason that your doctor wants the ultrasound done during your menstrual cycle...to see how much or where the lining is left or pulling away as you have your period.

He's looking for endametriosis, or check for any enlarged ovarian cysts. You can ask your Dr to explain all these procedures. You have a understanding of what he is doing and what you might have?
