Ultrasound technologist?

what do they do? which colleges offer an ultrasound technologist program in Illinois? is an ultrasound technologist the same thing as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer? am i supposed to get a certificate? im interested in the type of job that specializes in looking at the baby in pregnant woman to see how its doing and stuff:)

Yes, ultrasound tech and diagnostic medical sonographer are the same thing. You have to learn a lot more than just the "baby stuff" - it's used to examine many parts of the body, such as the abdomen, breasts, female reproductive system, prostate, heart, and blood vessels. Sonography is increasingly being used in the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack, and vascular disease that can lead to stroke. After you go through school, you can choose to work in an OB clinic or something like that, if you want to stick with the baby stuff.
