Pelvic Ultrasound cover question? |
The ultrasound room was dark, and I didn't see a condom on the trans-vaginal ultrasound probe. I'm extremely worried. Could there have been a cover on it that fit so snugly that it wouldn't have been as easy to notice as a condom? My husband said he saw little bands of color on the wand. A transvaginal ultrasound transducer is ALWAYS covered by a sheath. ALWAYS! The sheath may be one specifically designed for transvag. u/s or a regular condom. The u/s specific sheaths are a bit more snug compared to a condom. Both sheaths are clear in color, and I don't know about you, but I am not sure I would be able to tell just by feel if a sheath was on the transducer. After using the transvag. transducer, we remove the sheath, and soak the transducer for 10 minutes in a bactericidal solution. I cannot image you were at any facility that did not follow this practice. I had one done before and now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing one either. They don't use covers. There's no need. The factory ordered covers fit more snugly than the condoms that are often substituted. (the condoms are cheaper) i had a condom on mine once with jelly on top (a professional place), but there was another time when i was actually in the gyno's office where i don't actually recall a condom.. maybe it was disposable? i wouldn't worry though! I was with my wife when she has had it done yes there was a cover over it. |
