How much does a scrotal ultrasound cost in New York City? Can we get one for free somehow?

My husband went to a Urologist due to his testicles being achy and twisted. The Urologist said that it was probably a varicose vein, and if he wore briefs and didn't drive for a while, it should go away. A month later, it hasn't, and we can't afford for him to go back to the doctor because it's $300 per visit anywhere in New york, and then we have to add the cost of the ultrasound, which the doctor wont tell us until he goes to see him again, so we have to pay $300 to find out how much the ultrasound is.... So. i was wondering, like how you can get cheap sonograms through planned parenthood when you're pregnant, is there a place where he can get an ultrasound where the cost is on a sliding scale (meaning, something we could afford)? And if not, how much does it cost?

In order to have any kind of ultrasound (except for the entertainment only OB scans), you must have a doctor's referral or order. Once you have that....

My best advice would be to look in your local yellow pages, and make calls for estimated costs at facilities in your area. Prices will vary depending on which state you are in....in fact, the prices can vary quite a bit between facilities in the same area. I work in a free standing imaging center, and we charge about half what the hospital (located in the same town!) charges. Look in the yellow pages under "x-ray" or "physicians - radiologist" and start calling facilities. If you call the imaging department of a hospital, make sure you get both the technical fee (for the cost of the procedure) and the professional fee (for the radiologist's reading). Most free standing imaging centers combine those costs into one fee. Other things to think about.....find out if the facility offers a cash discount for uninsured patients. Also, find out if they can make a payment plan for you, if you cannot come up with all of the money at the time of your procedure. We ask for 25% down at time of service, and then we do a payment plan, mapping out monthly payments for the balance. Sometimes the monthly payment is fairly low.....$50 even. A little bit of research can save you some money!

TO BE HONEST I DON'T KNOW BEING EUROPEAN..BUT FOR PEACE OF MIND,BEG,STEAL OR BORROW TO HAVE PEACE OF MIND..BEEN THERE..BEST OF LUCK
