Ultrasound scan and polysystic ovaries? |
I have been for a ultrasound scan today so they could take a look at my ovaries to check for any abnormalaties. They found that my left ovary was bigger than it should be and suggested it may be polycyctic ovaries. They mentioned something about it bein 9??? im guessing they were referring to its size? Does anyone with the condition know what size your ovaries are supposed to be? I also just wondered if people diagnosed with the condtion have had problems concieving or not? thanks cape town 108- it was meant to say being not bein or benign* I've no idea about size- it's never been metioned to me. With PCOS you may also have; excess hair, be overweight, as well as have irregular periods. It is common to have difficulties conveiving, but it is not impossible,. I think it is more common in those who experience obesity as one of their symptoms, and if you can control your weight then this can really improve your chances, there are also medication that can help. Dont' worry too much just yet, please, wait til you have all the info and can discuss iti with your doctor I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago after I had reoccuring ovarian cysts. Some people do have trouble conceiving with PCOS, especially if you have irregular menstrual cycles, so it's best to be put on birth control to regulate your periods. Go to www.webmd.com and type in PCOS. It gives you tons of information about the condition. I'm about to go through a similar thing myself i have to have a scan in the next few weeks as i could have ovarian cysts and im scared its pcos as i already have chronic pid. i guess if you ask them the size of the other ovary it can give you an idea of the difference. i hope everything goes well for and you can concieve in the future (fingers crossed to us both!) I don't know what size a normal ovary is but I do know it affects a woman's fertility. Usually the periods are eradicate. There is no known cause for it. bein 9? its benign and its means "non cancerous" - which is a good thing. |
