Ultrasound and CT scan- What if neither show gallbladder as cause of symptoms?

I have been having a dull aching pain in my upper right quadrant of my abdomen that comes and goes, as well as nausea that comes and goes. I have not noticed an association with food however I have a strong family history of gallbladder problems. I had an ultrasound and they found no gallstones, so today I took a CT scan (still waiting for the results)....if both of these come back normal....could it still be my gallbladder? What else can they do to check for it? I really think it is my gallbladder.

I have had my appendix out and I am not pregnant.

Sometimes you can have gallbladder problems and it not show up. Once you eat or drink anything the gallbladder contracts making it very difficult to beseen by ultrasound or CT. You can have gallstones in the common bile duct and have the same symptoms. You should ask then to do a nuclear medicine study that looks at the abd and pelvis. But like the other reply you could have an ovarian cyst. Your really describing gallbladder problems. ask your doctor to draw a amylase and lipase blood this is liver and pancreatic enzymes which it could be linked to pancreatitis if you have a family history or if you are diabetic or a drink of any kind and amount. good luck I hope you have nothing wrong.

Wait for the CT scan results, but when I was experiencing the type of pain you are describing, it was a cyst on my ovary.
