What's the fastest way to get rid of a stomach virus when you have Ulcerative Colitis too? Thanks for any help

Hi everyone! I've had Ulcerative Colitis since I was young and have had various types of stomach viruses like most of us throughout the years. I live in Mass. and there's a very serious stomach virus going around at the present time. Mine started on Sat. Jan. the 5th of 2008 and it's now Fri. Jan. the 11th and it's still working it's way out of my system. I personally know of people that have the same stomach "bug" that are still feeling the effects of it 2 weeks after it's onset. I read that the best and quickest way to get rid of it completely is to not eat any food at all for at least one day and drink fluids only. I'm use to being ill stomach wise with my Ulcerative Colitis but this virus is the worst I've ever had. Does anyone have any advise on how I can speed up my healing process? Any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for any and all help in advance! I'm tired of staying home. LOL
