Can ulcerative colitis be deadly?

hi jason, i am a crohn's survivor which is a type of IBD like UC. People can lead a normal life with UC provided they take their medications, keep all appts. with the GI, go in for routine blood work and scopes, avoid smoking, drinking, and eat healthy when you feel well, and exercise.

Yes . . . but only if you don't treat it. Blood and nutrient loss can be enormous. IV's, bowl rest, anti-inflammatory drugs, blood transfusions, and colonosopys are all great methods of treatment that keep ulcerative colitis suffers around.
