Yes you can die from Typhoid. That is why in third world nations it is strongly suggested you don't drink the water and forego the ice.

It can be cured if treated. But, left untreated it can be very severe and life threatening. It is most life threatening to the elderly and to those people living in third world countries who do not have access to health care.
