Is typhoid fever a serious type of disease? is it deadly?

If left untreated, typhoid fever is a serious disease. There are about 400 cases of typhoid fever in the U.S. each year with about 75% acquired while traveling over seas. Typhoid fever can be treated with antibiotics but there has been an increase in the number of resistance Salmonella typhi.

It is a disease for a reason, if left untreated it will cause you pain and it will cause damage.

Caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhii, they multiply in the blood and are absorbed into the intestinal tract. It can be deadly. The worst it can do is cause myocarditis, which is the inflammation of the heart muscle. It will be very uncomfortable, you will have frequent diarrhea, feel extremely weak and it also causes enlargement of the spleen and liver.

If you are planning on 'roughing-out' one of these, I sincerely ask you not to do so. I got this one when I was travelling and it turned my world upside down. Almost had to be hospitalized.

Typhoid or enteric fever is caused by a bacteria called Salmonella Typhi.,the common organism well known to the food poisoning.
Typhoid fever although treated with a group of antibiotics and a full recovery possible, it becomes deadly when, it is not treated properly.
Yes.. Typhoid fever can kill you when, it causes intestinal perforation. The organism affects the Payers patches(a group of cells that support your immune system) of the small intestine, causing it to necrose(death of a cell) that eventually causing a perforated bowel.
Once, the bowel is perforated, the intestinal contents leak into the peritoneal cavity causes peritonitis and severe sepsis. In this stage, the person might require Intensive care admission for an appropriate medical and surgical input.

So, it a serious disease and death is imminent when, it is not treated properly.
Hope, this helps,
