Any good medication for type II diabetes?

I am about to get off Avandia because of its serious side effects and also the possibility of it being withdrawn from the market. The doc hinted on putting me on insulin but thought that was for type I diabetes? Anyone has proven home or any remedy?

Sorry, no home remedies. Do as much as you can with diet and exercise. Many, many type 2s have to take insulin. Do anything you can to control it. Im sure you now the risk of uncontroled diabetis. Blindness, kidney failure, etc

You really need to read about your body. Type two diabetics frequently need insulin.

Metformin is a good drug that helps your pancreas produce more insulin, and can delay the need for insulin, but what you need to do is get control of your diet.

There is a book by a diabetic doctor (whose name I cannot for the life of me recall) that goes into the entire diet thing, and it works. I should be able to remember his name because I have been following his advice for ten years.

There are no home remedies for diabetes. Only thing you can do at home to help control your diabetes is eating the proper foods listed on your diet and keeping your weight under control.

I am a Type 11 diabetic. I was on insulin for awhile and now take a pill called Glucotrol XL. I lost over 100 pounds and I was able to go off of insulin. I am now working to rid myself of having to take the "diabetes" pill everyday, by careful weight control and proper diet; but will ALWAYS be a diabetic.

Be cautious of any "home remedies" that others say can control your diabetes. Always work with your doctor on all of your care.

Good luck to you...

DIABEETUS

Metformin works very well for me, with the additional bonus of helping with weight loss.
