I have type II diabetes and sometimes my glucose levels exceed 600.? |
I watch my diet and take my meds as prescribed but I feel as though my Dr. hasn't gotten my medicines right .Is it normal for my blood sugar to spike like this or should I change doctors? Do you REALLY watch your diet? Oh goodness darling- it is really time to talk to your doctor again and let him know that your diet change and your meds are not working. You should write down in a log your blood levels. You should get with your doctor A.S.A.P. as anything over 300 is considered serious. I am Type II also, and since my meds have been squared away I have kept between 90 and 150. Good Luck. No, this is not normal. Please see you Dr. asap. Take a log of your readings with you as well as a food diary. Your meter should keep readings in memory. some also keep an average. Those readings are too high. let your Dr. know when you have those readings Morning, bedtime, before or after meals. This is all important to getting your levels back on track. Getting the meds right can be a challenge especially at first so make sure that you give the Dr. all the info you can . If you still feel unsure get a 2nd opinion. I have type 1 and have to take a shot everytime I eat. Good Luck My Father went into a coma at a reading of 400. I am surprise that you are able to remember that it was 600. You are very Blessed. So be "Thankful." My spikes perhaps to 200, but never the readings you have. I would insist that your Doctor set-down with you and discuss this issue, along with an answer! If ur glucos level fasting is more than 120 & post meal 2 hours after is more than 160 -170 than it is not very god control but O.K. but above 200 it is really un controlled. u may land up in coma. If you are on oral medication than talk to doctor to switch over to insulin.may be your blood does not have any insulin or u have become resistant to oral drugs this may happen or u are taking in appropriate doses . check with physcian. i think you should go to alexandra hospital (diabetic centre) to find out more , the nurses & doctors there is very helpful |
