Do you have Adult Onset Type II diabetes? Did you experience depression prior to your diagnosis?

Do you have Adult Onset Type II diabetes? Did you experience depression prior to your diagnosis?

been over 6 years now since I was diagnosed and for the 3 to 4 months beforehand I felt so bad and got so down I thought I was going crazy I'm 61 and have mine under control most of the time and feel pretty good now

I felt a little depressed, as i felt as rough as nuts and tired out. People thought i was just being lazy.

I really wasn't depressed I was in denial. Ive been for 13 years my first 3 years I was in denial. But lucky now there is so much information out there for Diabetic. I wish you luck.

I have Type I juvenile onset (an adult now ). I belong to an online support group and many T2 members talk about experiencing depression. From my own experience depression and diabetes are often seen together. Also it is good to remember that rhe symptoms of high bloodsugars mimic the symptoms of depression, probably why it's prevalent shortly before diagnosis. Good luck, you may want to check out thegroup for more support.

i was just recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes among other illnesses i have so i stay depressed alot and has recently gotten wosier but i am seeing a therpist about my depression

I experienced a huge wave of depression when I diagnosed in March 2006.But, I started reading the book of Job.And that got me back on track! Just think about the boils-sores that He had on his body......and the pain..........and remember that God loves us.Get in a good Bible-based church and get connected to God.......that's my secret......and learn to love green veggies, beans, turkey ,chicken and fish......We can beat this thing. I refuse to believe that it will develop into T2.I am fighting NOW -I am at the Pre-T2 stage.I have already lost 5 lbs.I walk 3 miles a day! And plan to take up belly-dancing(in my living room) to get my abs tight.Just think about Hallie Berry and Luther Vandross(who died from complications of Diabetes) and Patti LaBelle. Stay prayerful.........Psalms151
