Any advice on how to manage Type II Diabetes?

I'm forty years old and I am not overweight.
I am doing the best I can, but if you can suggest any great resources or advice that would be great. Thank you.

A couple of books that are marvelous and fairly easy reading:
"Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year" and
"Atkins Diabetes Revolution".

Google type 2 diabetes and you will find thousands of sites. Don't fall for any of the quick fix schemes, but do read most of the sites and glean some good info from each of them. Hint: after about a hundred or so, they all seem to repeat the same info.

Come over and visit the forum at http://www.diabetes.about.com There are some very lovely helpful peoples there who love to give support and help when they can. The guide is the only one with medical degree and I think she is a CDE.

This was part of my health paper. I can't list them all but if you go to www.webmd.com and type in diabetes in the search bar, they give you causes for it, and what to do, and how to live with it, and a lot more.

Someone suggested this to me and i cant live without it so i suggest you try it http://www.hermansherbalstore.com/produc...

take a bitter gourd and slice into many pieces as you can put it in a juice blender put sugar and salt until it becomes juice mix it 50-55 times than drink it 3 times a day (everyday) and exercise everyday

you are just forty years old but you are getting diabetics, anyway dont worry about that because nowadays all ages people getting diabetics and also it became a common health problem so, you must follow what your doctor suggest and gave...........dont eat alone tablets and eat some greene vegetables add more spinach in your lunch, eat gova tha will help you to reduce your blood sugar level.......and do some physical exercise..........................

I would think that 1 google search would give you enough information to read to last a lifetime on this topic. Actual medical advice and not old wives tales.

I am a diabetic and what is good for me may not be good for you based on YOUR specific makeup.

Most insurance companies will pay for a consultation with a nutritionist to get you, based on YOUR needs, on a proper carb count and food selections for YOU.

Good luck.

Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates. Eat balanced meals at regular times. Whole grain carbs are good. Losing weight helps control diabetes.

Diabetes 11 has reached epidemic proportion, at least in North America. Perhaps the doctors are testing everyone now for it. Whether or not you are on medication, your hospital will have a clinic with dieticians you can book for a 2/3 hour seminar on all you need to know and can ask any question you like & bring a friend with you. Following the regimen is simple and easy. You will most likely receive a three ring binder with most of the information you will need as well as phone #'s & email addresses.

I have diabetis 11 and follow the regimen and do not take drugs to control it, at least not so far.

One diabetic strategy is to consume very small low-carbohydrate portions about every hour. Calculate approximate daily calorie consumption for weight loss objectives.

Wal-Mart sells a 16-ounce bag of World Kitchens beef jerky for around $8.50 . . cut up and weigh 1-ounce portions. Jennie-O turkey franks (cut up and boil to reduce fat and sodium). String cheese sticks. 1-ounce portions of peanuts. Sam鈥檚 caffeine-free diet cola has zero carbs, calories, and sodium. Blend sugar-free pudding powder with water and low-carb (4 grams) vanilla yogurt instead of milk for 1/2 cup servings. For a sugar-free slushie, blend around 1-1/4 cup A&W diet root beer, 1/2 cup vanilla pudding, and 6 ice cubes. Prepare 1/2 cup portions of sugar-free jello in 1-cup containers, and top with a 1/4 inch layer of vanilla pudding when served. Chocolate pudding makes good fudge pops.

Wal-Mart sells round screw-together containers in the craft bead section which are suitable for take-along beef jerky and peanut 1-ounce portions. The large size measures approximately 2.50鈥?inside diameter by .75鈥?deep, and costs around $2.00 per assembly of 4 containers.

Might also consider taking a daily multi-vitamin, and a 81mg aspirin (if not adverse).
