Diabetes type two?

okay, so today i went to the doctors and they said that because of some symptoms i've been having (headaches, dizziness, extreme hunger and thirst, high blood pressure, and bmi of 90) that i have to be tested for diabetes type two. i'm almost 15, so is this really weird if i do have it? what do you have to do if you have diabetes type two?

wait oops. my bmi is in the 90th percentile for my age. i'm 160 lbs. and 5'5".

Diet changes can help keep your blood sugar levels under control. So if you keep a tight watch over what you eat, you should be fine :-)

It is your responsibility to take care of your own health. I suggest that you start reading up what you can about diabetes.

Borrow a book or go on diabetes site like this one http://www.diabetes-treatment-research.c...

try to control what you eat and exercise. BMI of 90?! I think that is an exaggeration.... I am 5'2 and i weigh over 200 and my BMI is 36, so you are extremely unhealthy.. good luck and try your hardest.

If you do have diabetes, you'll need to be on a special diet, probably take meds (either by mouth or injection), and get lots of exercise.

If you were 5'5" you would have to weigh around 400 pounds to have BMI of 90. Type 2 is part of being overweight. It takes the sugar you eat and keeps it in the blood so you do not get fatter but you need to drink and urinate a lot. 90% of people with type 2 can cure it by losing weight.

With a BMI of 90, you may very well have diabetes type 2. I have it, too. You should be on a diabetic diet and exercise even if it's only walking. If you are diagnosed, your doctor should refer you to a diabetes class or a dietician to help you with your diet.
