Diabetes Type 1 - know of any child friendly websites?

A friend's child has just been diagnosed as having Type 1 Diabetes - are there any child friendly websites out there that you can recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks everybody, that's a really good link!

She's 13, they're obviously getting lots of help and info from various sources, but I think she'll benefit from browsing this site. Good for her parents aswell, they're at their wits end.

Thanks also Heather xx

Hi there. Check out the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) website at http://www.jdrf.org and also http://www.childrenwithdiabes.com

There is a link to get a "Wizdom Kit" through the JDRF site that will help the child, parents, and teachers. It has some booklets and stress balls, games, etc...really cool and easy to understand for kids.

Both sites offer a lot of good information and links to other sites that are child friendly as well.

I think it's great you are helping out your friend! She will need a lot of support along with her child.

Take care

From there, there are some links to information on all the types of diabetes! :)

kidshealth is good but i would reccommend you being referred to a diabetes team who will not only monitor the child but will give you good acurate up to date advice and they will put your friends mind at ease! The internet can be a little dodgy!!!

Good site. Don't forget books too! Fifty-50.com and Amazon has books for varying ages on diabetes. If your child is a teen, websites might be the way to go, but for all kids, and certainly little tykes, books are recommended.

whish I could help you Delly but dont know any websites
