Diabetes !! Type 2?

I have type 2 diabetes for last 9 years.... the dryness of skin and the itch is very bad... even though my sugar is rarely out of control.... my limbs are senstive... any one with similar experience and how do u deal with it??/

Is the dryness worse in the winter? I am not diabetic. When the humidity drops in the winter my skin dries out really bad. Buy a cheap electronic themometer with a hygrometer (humidity read out). A comfortable level is between 30% and 60%. If it is above 50% you may have dust mite troubles , so 40 - 50 % is a good range.

Also, insure you are drinking enough water.

Ointments are superior to creams and lotions. If cost is an issue plain ole vaseline applied after a shower works well. Alot of the combo ointments have alcohol in them which can be irritating to the skin.

Also, if taking a bath you can put a couple cap fulls of mineral oil into the water.

Eucerin or Aquaphor cream -- rub it in thickly it will help the dry skin. Use creams not lotions -- lotions are too runny.
