Is it possible to get pre-diabetes type 1?

or is it possible to prevent diabetes of type 1 if you find you have diabetes while your insulin making cells are still being destroyed?

I think you might be confused?? Or else your question is just confusing to me.
Type 1 is usually the type that children get. Once they get it, they will have it for life, which is why there are adults who have type 1, they most likely got it while they were young.
Type 1 is often brought on by a virus, so there is not something you can do to prevent it. Type one is insulin dependant and you require shots because your body stops making insulin and your sugar remains high. This is why at diagnosis children are known to have levels as high as 1000 and near coma/death.
Type 2 is the kind that you can "influence" by diet and exercise.

There are no definite answers right now. A lot of related research going on with a few promising discoveries. But no definite way of preventing or stopping it right now.

There are things you can do in terms of diet & exercise that will help you delay or reduce the severity of diabetes for many years. This can add years of life expectancy and greatly reduce complications. Go see a dietician that understands the disease process. Someone who will work with your Doctor to manage your health. This may sound complicated but will make a huge difference in your outcome and quality of life in the years ahead.

Unfortunately, once the insulin producing "Beta" cells are attacked, they will most likely all be destroyed causing Diabetes "Type 1."

Type 1 is not preventable, due to this fact. We were pretty sure that originally it was a hereditary condition - this is not entirely true. It is an immune system reaction to some unknown factor.

Pre-diabetes is reserved for those people who are trending towards an insulin resistance that causes Diabetes "Type 2."

Basically, if we could prevent the insulin making "beta" cells from being destroyed we could cure diabetes. They arent sure what causes the body to attack the cells, so we cant stop it. Its definitely related to the immune system, so again, another mystery there.
