Has anyone else been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 or type 2 after taking the medicine Tami flu? |
My son was perfectly healthy until he took the medicine Tami flu, while taking the medicine he began to look worst and was very thirsty. I thought it was the flu bug still at work. But right after finishing the medicine he began to wet the bed, I thought he had an infection regarding the urinary area. When he went to the doctor she tested his sugar and it was around 350, she sent him directly to the emergency room. He stayed in the hospital for a week and finally they realized he was a type 1 diabetic. His pancrease just stopped working for no apparent reason according to the doctors. I also have a friend who is in her fifties and she took the medicine Tami flu and a few months later she noticed she was losing weight, she was not overweight to begin with. After going to the doctor and being tested, she was told she has type two diabetes. I believe their may be something in this medicine that messes with the insulin in your body. Have you or someone you know experienced this also? Well, it's possible, but more likely just a strange coincidence. As you probably already know, type 1 is caused by a combination of heredity and something else ... either a virus, or some environmental factor. They don't know yet. But type 2 is caused by insulin resistance in the body, as far as I know a virus wouldn't have anything to do with it. This would be rare. The child was given this meds for what I would expect the flu virus. It would be advisable to find out if the virus itself was the cause of diabetes. Attacking the outo immune system. Is there maybe a family member with diabetes? And furthermore, he must have the genes for this. The flu possibly was the trigger in his case. In my case, it was mumps when I was 11 yrs of age. And what is the age of your child? Type 1 is often diagnosed in the years of adolescence. |
