I have diabetes type 1 and I am having a hard time trying to lose weight...any suggestions? |
Well...I have diabetes type 1 and I am having a really hard time trying to lose weight. Does anyone know how to help me? I am type 1 and have been obese since mid 20"s. The Docs have put me on every diet you can think of. The best diet is to follow the ADA pyramid. Available at almost ALL doctor's offices. How I finally lost weight was to cut out everything sweet(because sugar increases appetite). I would fill my plate as usual, cut my portion on my plate in half and put it back in the pans.Put all the leftover food away before I sat down to eat.You are less likely to take seconds if you have to get them out and re-heat them.Do not deny yourself treats though. If you want something, eat it. Just take one bite of a candy bar and put it in the fridge till tomorrow. Takes will power but you can do it! I presume you are young and insulin resistant not insulin deficient. I am old and insulin resistant and fat. The way I am losing my weight was because some wise woman advised me that yeast (Candida) can overgrow in insulin resistant bodies (due to all that lovely sugar in the bloodstream) and helps keep the weight on, and make it harder to take off. HI, My mother has diabetes type 1 diabetes and has struggled her whole life trying to lose weight. She did have some luck with the No Carb diet. She is about 5'4 and weighs about 220. They have considered stapling her stomach for her since it is so hard to lose weight when one is on insulin. |
