Hypothyroid and Type 2 Diabetes? |
I have type 2 Diabetes and Hypothyroidism. My doctor said that when my thyroid is under control, my type 2 diabetes should go away...anyone heard of this? No, but I can see how it would make sense. I have hypothyroidism as well. Mine is under control (more or less). I've been on the meds for, oh, five years or so. When my thyroid is going crazy, I know it. I have a VERY strong desire to eat food, especially sweet things. I can't resist candy, breads, cheese, etc. All I want to do is shove unhealthy food into my face. That desire could easily turn into diabetes. When my thyroid is under control, I don't have such a strong urge. I HATE the taste of chocolate, always have, ever since I was a little kid.... I haven't heard of that. I have a sister who has both of those conditions. While radiation therapy helped shrink and destroy the malignancies on her thyroid, she still must use diet, exercise and meds to keep her blood sugar under control. |
