Type 2 Diabetes question, my husband has it, but is having new symptoms?

My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year. He is on medication, (I don't remember which one) to control it. The past week, he has been incredibly hungry...he eats all the time. And he is also incredibly tired and is sleeping all the time. He refuses to go to the doctor to check this out; I have argued with him until I am hoarse trying to persuade him. Has anyone else with this type of diabetes had these same symptoms, and if so, what do they mean so I can show the answer to my husband and perhaps get his butt to the doctors. This is worrying me very very much. PLEASE, NO answers that say get him to the doctor, stupid, because I have TRIED! Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Polyphagia (Abnormal Increase in appetite) is caused by the cells of the body feeling that they are being starved for glucose (sugar). This happens when the insulin being made by the body is not able to facilitate the movement of sugar into the cell. Basically the sugar is there but the body's insulin can't get it into the cell, this can be due to either a drop in the amount of insulin being produced or the cells have become more resistent to the insulin. If his eating habits have changed to this point this needs to be checked by his physician. It could cause complications.

Sounds like classic symptoms of an out of control glucose levels. When he eats his glucose goes up... he feels hungry. He eats more, the more he eats the more sugar builds up in his system. He feels tired, he sleeps.
The sugar continues to flunctuate too high, too low.
His meds probably need to be reevaluated. Dosage levels need to be adjusted periodically through out a diabetics treatment. Sometimes a new med need to be tried, because a tolerance of the old one makes it ineffective now.

Ok, won't tell you to get him to a doctor. Even you already know that. Tell him when he starts to lose the feeling in his fingers... his toes, then the nerves die... then the tissues die.. then his extremeties start to fall off.....
Ask him what kind of coffin he prefers....
Diabetes isn't an inconvenience...
Its a killer.

what are his readings? If they are consistently high perhaps his insulin/medication needs to be changed. Type 2 doesn't just stay the same indefinately. I also know of someone (an adult) that was diag as type 2 and 12 months later lost heaps of weight and is now type 1. There is adult onset type 1 diabetes. He really does have to go to doc, (i know you said no answers saying that but...) specially if he is peeing a lot, thirsty and losing weight. He will need to take some readings with him so doc can compare so perhaps that is a starting point, if you check readings and they are consistently high maybe he will see he has to go

These pranayam exercises will help control the diabetes and the side effects he is suffering.Build up the timing gradually. The benefits will be noticed in weeks as the sugar level is checked daily.Over the long tern the diabetes will be in full control and the medicine can be reduced in consultation with the doctor.

When my husband's blood glucose is high, he is very hungry. This may be the reason for your husband's hunger. Also when ones blood glucose is high it causes you to be very sleepy and tired.

You might want to tell him my husband's story. I tryed for many years to keep my husband on his diabetic diet. He would not. Now he is suffering from complication from diabetes. He has 3rd stage renal failure, which 5th stage is complete renal failure. His could fail at any time. He has cad, he already had a 90% heart blockage, had to have a stent. He has high blood pressure. He also has neuropathy foot pain, very painful. It keeps him from getting a good nights sleep. He has bleeding behind his eyes, which can lead to blindness. All this was caused from high blood glucose for a long period of time. The doctor told us that everytime a diabetic's blood glucose is high, it is causing damage to the vessels of the body.

Your husband may not think this can happen to him, but it can if he does not take care of his diabetes. My husband didn't think it could happen to him, but it did. Now he has to stay on a very strick diet without salt, just to delay or prevent his kidneys from failing.

My husband use to say, " I don't like to take my blood glucose, because when it is high, it makes me feel bad. You know, it is what a diabetic don't know that can harm or kill him.
Diabetes is one disease that you really don't want to forget about because it will come back to bite you and maybe even destroy you.

I am also a diabetic.

okay. let him know THIS! he can fart and fool around until he starts losing feelings in his fingers and toes and he starts to lose body parts by amputation.....IF he lives through it....
if he don't want to see the doctor.....ask him to go out in the backyard and start digging his grave......it'll be soon enough if won't take care.......
