Type II Diabetes......? |
My step daughter is exhibiting signs of Type II diabetes and has an insulin test scheduled for Tuesday. What does this entail for her if this is in fact the case (she is 11 years old)? Right now she appears to have too much insulin in her system. I always thought diabetes was the other way around. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! How do you know she has too much insulin in her system ? Here is a website with some answers about how they test children. Good luck with this. I believe that she will be given a sugar drink, and/or injection. Then blood will be taken at specified intervals to measure the amount of glucose in her system. No, if she has that, she has type 1 diabetes. Not type 2. #1: are you sure it's type 2? Type 2 is diet controlled. Please see the web pages for more details on Type 1 Diabetes. Usually they do a GTT glucose tolerance test. drinking a very sweet drink, and taking blood samples. Type 2's USUALLY HAVE TOO MUCH insulin, caused by their insulin resistance. Unlike Type 1 diabetes, in Type 2, the pancreas makes insulin, but the cells do not respond to it. So they crank out more hoping to lower the blood sugar level. type 2 can also be when your body doesn't know how to use the insulin your body is creating. |
