Type 2 Diabetes?

Okay I just recently found out that I have type 2 diabetes. I dont have to take insulin or any thing. Could some one give me some more information about this subject please. And which type is worser 1or 2

Type 2 is non insulin dependant diabetes. It means that either you body (pancreas) does not produce enough insulin or you body does not absorb it correctly. I can in some cases, be controlled by diet (eating the right foods) and otherwise may need certain drugs (ie. pills ) to keep your blood sugar levels in line. Weight loss and exercise are important and watching what you eat is important too. Watch breads (including pizza crusts) and sweets and learn to eat correctly and choose the right foods.

Two is the better kind to have because you dont have to take shots. I have type 1 and have to give like 4-5 shots a day. It could change or develop inton type one though, I think because your pancrus is still making some insulin, but it could stop all together. Don't worry though. You'll be fine either way...........Its scary at first. but you get used to it. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!=)

Hi hon!! neither type is worser than the other!! bad english!!

type 1 is mostly discovered when the poor patient is put in hospital in diabetes shock!! they get immediate counciling on proper care!! that is the good part. they also get to go on an immediate insulin regimen!! that is not bad!!

type 2 is mostly discovered when they are way high and in a nasty mood at the doctor's office. they do not get any counciling on proper care!! they are patted on their little butts and told to watch the sugars. That is the bad part!! But there are loads of sites on the internet where one can get educated. that is the best part. About.com/health/diabetes has one of the best information sections I know of.

Ok, first off, most people can try to control this with diet and exercise. It is much easier with some of the 8 classes of meds available now. they are all orals as in pills!! Most of us deal with a combination of diet, exercise, orals and sometimes injections.

So go Google diabetes and find some other sites than the one I mentioned. Educate yourself!! Education is power in this case. Diabetes type 2 is a self directed disease. the more you know the better you can treat yourself.

I take a combo of pills and insulins. I have been diagnosed 10 years. I expect to live to be a great great grandma!!!

Hi
Don't worry. Get well soon.

Please go to dlife.com or onetouchgold.com. They are both for diabetics and have all kinds of info about both types. Dlife is really good as it has a forum for the types. You can ask questions, get answers and read about people that have the same concerns as you. Good luck with your new lifestyle.

By the way, I am type 2 and I am on insulin. Mine got way out of control early on. And darn! didn't get my pat on the butt!!! Now I am mad!
