Do I have Turner's Syndrome? |
Iv'e done some research and I have some of the the significant symptoms. I'm turning 16 next month and I'm 4'11'. I recently started my period in the beginning of April. In May, my period was weird. like it didn't come out a lot and was not light brown [sorry I know that's kinda gross..]. I look really young, like I'm about 10 years old. I'm pretty weak and underweight [ probably was nothing to do with it..?]. i heard that turner's syndrom patients can be extremely intelligent. i don't think i am/im not sure myself, but i read that patients are bad at math. that's true for me. there are many times where I can't do simple problems in my head quickly, like if a teacher asks me a simple addition or subtraction problem I hesitate and have a hard time doing it,but I'm good at english. I want to know more than what's written in the websites, like when I'm 30, what age will I look like? Will I eventually develope breasts?I know there's medication, but how do i ask my parents to get me tested? IMPORTANT: ugh how could i forget this detail. After May,I havent had my period I mean it is possible, but if no one has been concerned about it before, what changed to make you concerned about it now? You could just be petite. Lots of people are really bad at math. It dosnt seem like you have it but go to the doctor any ways Only a doctor can diagnose something as rare as Turner's. I don't think so. But, you never know. I would ask your doctor. Some women are flat chested and have light periods. If so, and you are otherwise healthy I would count this as a blessing. Heavy periods are a drag. And a flat chest makes running much easier. r u sure its not just cause u watched law & order: svu tonight? i dont think that u have it. there are girls that dont get their period till their seventeen, i know girls shorter than u and they're almost twenty, if u dont work out, of course ur gonna b weak, ur short...underweight might b for ur age, not ur height, i dont know, but if ur seriously concerned go to the doc. this will be a very easy test. They will get some saliva by a cotton tip and send it for a genetic test. As you may know people with Turner syndrome have one X chromosome which will show up in buccal smear. Go to INH.gov website and lear more about it. Unfortunately, you're part of the leisure class. That means you have too much time on your hand. No, they would have caught it earlier. It's rare, too. SVU is a wonderful show, but don't be a hypochondriac. though i am not a doctor, you may want to see one. if you have your period only once, there may be an under developing issue within your body. The average lady starts having there periods around the age of 11 to 14. go to the doctor and ask them to test you for it Just sounds like you're a late developer. Turner's is actually a significant chromosomal abnormality and I think the symptoms are more than what you've got. It might well have been picked up on tests by now if you did have it. You can see somebody if you really are worried, but I'm sure you'll develop in your own time. You are still only 15 and that is still a normal age for some people to be in the early stages of puberty, rather than the late stages. I look young for my age too. And many girls have a gap in between their first period and later ones, happened to a friend of mine, and she didn't start until she was about 14 either, had small breasts, it's all evened out now we're 19. Please don't stress. Nobody knows what they look like when they're older. yes it sounds like ted turner is coming by your house chances are you do NOT have Turner syndrome but are a late developer........ 4 ft 11" is actually a good height if you did have TS and obviously recieved no growth hormone treatment......TS girls tend to have a normal IQ and struggle a bit with mathematics but most tend to end up the lower end of "average" with maths skills..... |
