I have this large, tan blotch on my thigh right above my knee. It feels like thicker skin, it doesn't hurt or itch, and it has the same sensitivity as my normal skin. I have had this for about seven years that I know of. It hasn't really grown independently, more depending on my body's growth than anything. Now I notice that there are some tan splotches around it like it has spread a little bit. I THINK this is tinea versicolor, a superficial fungal infection, which can be treated temporarily with dandruff shampoo. In your opinion, do you think this is cancer? Don't just say yes or no without knowing what you're talking about. I do plan on getting an appointment with the doctor if the dandruff shampoo makes no obvious difference. Regardless of any answers you read here, it's really in your best interest to consult with a doctor ASAP if you have concerns. No I don't think it is cancer. One on my leg looked like a pimple and felt like it might have had a splinter. Just popped up one day and didn't go away. The skin cancers that develop later in life from sun are crusty patches that never seem to clear up for long. Your description sounds like a pigmentation problem. But getting a yearly check with a dermatologist is your best defense. |
