Horrible cough.. sore throat.. help me?

Okay, I was diagnosed with panic disorder not too long ago, and I am very depressed so I really havent been going anywhere for the past week straight. I might go to my friends house or go outside to smoke a ciggarette, but thats it. Oh, and I live in Michigan (which its cold!) Anyways, I have a really bad cough, it feels like there is water in my throat so I keep coughing to try to get it out, and my throat kind of gets itchy. So now, after coughing all day today and part of yesturday, my throat is really hurting me. I plan on going to the doctors tommarow, but is there anything I can do now. Or does anyone know what this might be? I don't have a fever, my temperature is 97.8F.
Oh! And it hurts to breathe and I get chest pain, but I've read a couple books and they say that its because of the panic attacks/anxiety. And I also have been really cold lately, I sleep with 3 blankets! I'm worried that its something like broncitus or whatever but I dont have a fever. Anyone have suggestions?

Do you think it could be staph even though I dont have a fever? Because I have this bump and it looks like a boil and my mom has one too. And I've had headaches for the past week straight.

ive had this before.... and i smoke.. try to smoke less.. it does help.. because the smoke irritates the throat and it will not heal because it is scratched from coughing... medicine will help, especially if its a spray that you can apply on the throat to make it numb... but heres the trick.. nothing will ever work faster and better than a big shot of honey and lime mixed together... all that vitamin c and other good stuff will kill the germs really quick.. try it urself ... feel better :)

You've got a few things going on right now. A panic disorder is no joke, nor is depression. Your immune system is suffering because of this. Also, you're still smoking because you think it calms your nerves, I'm guessing. Well, sorry, it doesn't. A nice cup of peppermint tea will do a better job ... and it will soothe your throat too.

If you're not running a fever, there's good chance all you have is a doozy of a cold. We all get those. Try not to read too much into it all.

If you can get Cold-FX tablets where you live, give them a try. If not, take echinacea and/or zinc tablets. Also, make a hot cup of tea with lemon and honey several times a day. Hot drinks (non alcoholic) will make you feel better. You can't get too many of them in fact.

Gargle with warm salt water if you want. Anything warm will help.

I won't nag about the smoking. But I really want to. Biting my tongue here ... Be well!
