Am i suffering an eating disorder??

im not skinny, im 5' 4 and 130 lbs... last winter i lost 15 pounds in 4 months mostly by starving myself weekends and eating regularly during the week. i was 114 pounds, thin but not too skinny. i gained it all back this summer weighin 128 punds then gained another 2 over time.

ive been trying to lose it back. i tried limiting myself to real low cal stuff like fruit, didnt work. so i would start starving myself, and dehydrating myself. but if i lost any i would gain it book a day later, out of lack of self control. lately, after thxgiving i overate so much i tried throwing up, but the finger down my throat thing didnt work, i just coughed. i've considered drinking salt water and taking laxatives but im too scared. the farthest down ive got was 127 pounds but ive bounced back up to 130 each time. i hate it. i exercise too. at tleast 4 times a week i run at least 2.5 miles. i havent seen results. do i have an eating disorder? why havent i lost weight?? any advice?

i feel bad for you, and I'm sorry. i had a friend with an eating disorder. please don't do this to yourself. its not about food, there is an underlying issue. please contact the hospital, they will put you in with a phsycologist. or better yet call the help line at 18009312237

Well, I would say that is disordered eating so technically yes. Remember that not everyone that suffers from an eating disorder is thin. Listen, I know from experiece, the more you mess with your metabolism and your weight yo-yos the more you will ulitmatley put on. You may be able to starve yourself and loose 10 but you will probably gain it back with interest. It takes more work and dedication to maintain a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise) but you will feel so much better and only then will you be able to keep the weight off. Fruit is good but has a lot of sugar, try protien, it won't spike your blood sugar. Quit comparing yourself to models. Don't get discouraged, it takes a while for your body to adjust after you have messed with it (beleive me, I have been through it!) the most important thing is to accept yourself, I know it is corny, but until you can, you won't find happiness is shedding lbs. Best of Luck!

Ooh, you're definitely on the track to having a serious eating disorder. Starving yourself to lose weight is never healthy never mind the fact that you'll actually gain more weight, since you're body will go into a mode I call starvation mode which means your body thinks its starving and therefore when you eat anything you body will store it away for later use.

You seem almost obsessed with losing weight, especially since you're noticing weight gains of 2 lbs. When you say you lost weight by dehydration the weight you lose is just water weight, which you'll gain back when you drink.

You're current methods are just to unhealthy they can lead to bulimia or anorexia which can screw up your life.

For a diet I recommend you eat 6 small healthy meals a day, cut back on sugar or junkfood and drink plenty of water. And as for exercise don't do just jogging, do some lifting to.

But remember you have to take into consideration how much body fat you have, and going bellow a certain percent for most women is not healthy.

Personally I like women that have some kind of figure, meaning they're not so thin they look like walking sticks.

If you need more advice go to this forum http://forum.bodybuilding.com/ and read the articles there especially about nutrition and fat. Talk to some of the people there, quite a few of them have gone through what you are going through and can help you better

It sounds like you have the makings of one-I cant say wether u have or havent-only a doc can do that but it is not a road you want to go down...believe me...I think you could do with talking to someone-maybe a doctor and se what they say...dont get in to the habbit of throwing up-its really not good...hope u decide to talk tosome one soon.x
