Question about my eating disorder? |
i'm 138 pounds, 5'2", and 16 years old. i'm bulimic and have been for a year and a half. only my best friend knows. i'm working on getting rid of it but its really hard.....on average i purge 2-4 times a week, sometimes more, . i am a lil overweight yet because before i developed bulimia i had compulisive eating disorder, which made me fat...ever since tho i have been maintaining my current weight. anyway, my question is, how at risk am i to suddenly die from purging? i heard that forcing urself to vomit can kill u without warning...it stops ur heart or something. i dont see blood in my vomit, but my throat is always a tad sore - especially after i eat - and my stomach, just recently, has begun hurting when i purge. like a stinging type of hurting. i have no other medical conditions, and i'm not malnutritioned cause i eat healthily and take mulitivitamins daily. so, what do u think? i'm just curious to know how at risk i am of dieing if i were to give in and purge again.... My dear, first, you need to seriously get some help. Second, serioiusly, seriously get some help. You can harm your body long term and run the chance of passing out, hitting your head on a toilet, causing irreversable damage to your esophogus and stomach. Please, Get treatment for your addiction/Disorder. You seem very intelligent and now suddenly worried for your overall well being... Let me be your wake up call... Talk to a counselor, teacher, parent, aunt uncle... someone to help you take the right steps in becoming healthy and learning how to eat the right way. Your body is vessel you must nurture and treat it responsibly. No one can say when your heart might give out from this. The pain in the stomach could be from damage to your stomach and/or esophagus. Get some help so that you can stop doing this to your body. Yes, many people are dead from bullimia. How 'bout you just don't purge again? Or, ask a doctor, somebody will a real live medical degree who can tell you how much of a MORON you're being. constant exposure to the acid in bile can erode your esophagus...not good. i believe purging also puts you at a higher risk for throat cancer. This is probably not the right answer, but I am bulimic, and I have known many bulimics through treatment, and I have never met a normal-weight bulimic who has suffered heart problems. (Purging anorexics are at a much greater risk.) quit doing this to ur self if you want to lose weight maintain a healthy diet and get about a hours worth of exersie it will make you healthy One: You can't be healthy if you eat your veggies, then puke them up. Hi Hun, Bulimia has more of a long term effect on the body because of the health implications it causes (weak teeth etc.) I really want to tell you to seek help...my grandmother died of anorexia and bulimia 3 months ago...only 1 other person in my country has ever DIED from Anorexia. Her death is currently under investigation because it is so rare for someone to die from this mental disease, which effects the body. You are at a small risk from dying from purging but I believe that the long term effects are more likely to kill you. Surely thats more of an incentive to stop:) Hope I helped, get well soon:) The question you should really ask is "How can I get help?" Eating Disorders Awareness & Prevention Hotline |
