Question about my eating disorder?

i'm 138 pounds, 5'2", and 16 years old. i'm bulimic and have been for a year and a half. only my best friend knows. i'm working on getting rid of it but its really hard.....on average i purge 2-4 times a week, sometimes more, . i am a lil overweight yet because before i developed bulimia i had compulisive eating disorder, which made me fat...ever since tho i have been maintaining my current weight. anyway, my question is, how at risk am i to suddenly die from purging? i heard that forcing urself to vomit can kill u without warning...it stops ur heart or something. i dont see blood in my vomit, but my throat is always a tad sore - especially after i eat - and my stomach, just recently, has begun hurting when i purge. like a stinging type of hurting. i have no other medical conditions, and i'm not malnutritioned cause i eat healthily and take mulitivitamins daily. so, what do u think? i'm just curious to know how at risk i am of dieing if i were to give in and purge again....

My dear, first, you need to seriously get some help. Second, serioiusly, seriously get some help. You can harm your body long term and run the chance of passing out, hitting your head on a toilet, causing irreversable damage to your esophogus and stomach. Please, Get treatment for your addiction/Disorder. You seem very intelligent and now suddenly worried for your overall well being... Let me be your wake up call... Talk to a counselor, teacher, parent, aunt uncle... someone to help you take the right steps in becoming healthy and learning how to eat the right way. Your body is vessel you must nurture and treat it responsibly.
my thoughts are with you.

No one can say when your heart might give out from this. The pain in the stomach could be from damage to your stomach and/or esophagus. Get some help so that you can stop doing this to your body.

Yes, many people are dead from bullimia.
It effects the potassium needed for your heart to function.
And if the potassium drops even a little bit...it stops the heart.
The heart cannot pump. And you will die.
It can happen at any time.

How 'bout you just don't purge again? Or, ask a doctor, somebody will a real live medical degree who can tell you how much of a MORON you're being.

constant exposure to the acid in bile can erode your esophagus...not good. i believe purging also puts you at a higher risk for throat cancer.
as for the heart, i don't know.

This is probably not the right answer, but I am bulimic, and I have known many bulimics through treatment, and I have never met a normal-weight bulimic who has suffered heart problems. (Purging anorexics are at a much greater risk.)

Get help anyway, if you can, and if you need to talk, my e-mail is lost43064@gmail.com

quit doing this to ur self if you want to lose weight maintain a healthy diet and get about a hours worth of exersie it will make you healthy

One: You can't be healthy if you eat your veggies, then puke them up.
Two: Vomit obviously has a very powerful acid in it. You should know that, unless you vomitted it up after science class. So the acid is litterally burning your throat. So that's why your throat hurts after you eat. A
Three: You stomach feels upset because: it's hungry, the vomitting is hurting it due to lack of acid and stomach lining, and possibly because of over doing the vomitting. Normal people don't vomit that often ,so they are fine. But people such as yourself vomitt several times a week (AKA: It's not healthy).
And finally, you won't die on the spot. But if you continue, you will have very bad health when you get older. And I mean VERY bad. You might as well have your teeth taken out, stomach removed, and allow only water to go down your throat. The sooner you do, the more you'll be used to it by the time you're 25-20, maybe younger.
I'm honestly not trying to be-little you, or yell at you. I'm just telling you the facts. It's better to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off--then not have to worry about it when you're older. Doing it this way only makes your body week and unhealthy. And doesn't create a healthy lifestyle for when you are older.

Hi Hun,
Please go see your doctor and get some help. I have almost died numerous times for my eating disorder and have done treatment in hospitals. Be careful.. that's all I can say. Run for your life. I might die.. I don't want you to. I am trying to get better.. I have a team of specialists working with me. Your stomach hurting and all that isn't a good sign. Please go see your doctor and please, if you need support you can contact me. My name's Carmen. I have anorexia and have stopped purging.
Good luck! You can do this! You 16.. you have your whole life!

Bulimia has more of a long term effect on the body because of the health implications it causes (weak teeth etc.) I really want to tell you to seek help...my grandmother died of anorexia and bulimia 3 months ago...only 1 other person in my country has ever DIED from Anorexia. Her death is currently under investigation because it is so rare for someone to die from this mental disease, which effects the body. You are at a small risk from dying from purging but I believe that the long term effects are more likely to kill you. Surely thats more of an incentive to stop:) Hope I helped, get well soon:)

The question you should really ask is "How can I get help?"
Their may be a risk of your heart stopping suddenly. I'll post a link for you to find out for yourself. I do know that you run the rick of rupturing something from repeatedly vomiting. You can also cause esophageal damage, not to mention the damage to your throat and teeth.Plus...after a while of "purging" you may get to where your stomach will have a hard time tolerating food, and you may become anorexic. I wish you the best of luck, but please try to get help.
