Throat cancer.... I'm sorta worried.?

A few days ago, I woke up with a strange pain in my throat. It felt like I had something stuck in my throat, and it really hurt when I tried swallowing. For the next few days it got a bit better, but I'm kinda worried it might be throat cancer. I'm a 16 year old male, quite healthy otherwise, and I'm not sure of throat cancer is common at my age. Do you know about any other sickness that displays those symptoms?

probably not throat cancer...but maybe you should get it checked.

In someone as young as yourself its very unlikely that it's cancer.

hmmmm! please chech this out, good luck and getwell soon!

im sure its just strep

If you're worried, go & see a doctor.

Common throat cancer symptoms include a lump or sore that does not heal, a sore throat that does not go away, difficulty swallowing and a change or hoarseness in the voice. Additional symptoms may include difficulty breathing or speaking, frequent headaches or generalized pain in the throat region.

tell your parents have them make an appointment to see your doctor
now
do not wait

It could very well just be your standard sore throat. If you had any sort of nasal drip caused by allergies or a cold the drippage could have settled in your throat making it a tad inflammed and irritated. I wouldn't worry about throat cancer at such a young age. Just take a deep breath and try not to "self Diagnose" by looking online. If your problem persists go see your doctor. But my guess...just your everyday sore throat. It happes especially during this time of year.

My friend, you need to go to the doctor.

It is a common misconception that cancer is painful, it usually isn't.

If that is your only symptom, I'd say probably not, especially that you're so young.

Throat cancer has lots of symptoms. You would feel like you had a cold and you would be coughing up bloody phlem.

Throat Cancer is extremely rare in children and doesn't happen over night. It was porbably something else. If its getting better and you are hocking up bloody phlem you will probably be ok.

It sounds like laryngitis, visit your doc to have medicine prescribed to you. I doubt its cancer.

Same thing happened to my husband. Something actually "popped"-he heard it. He couldn't even swallow. He went to a ear/nose/throat doctor and was prescribed steroids (I think). It quickly went away. He's fine. Don't freak yourself out.

Do you use tobacco products such as chewing tobacco or snuff? These are the leading causes of throat and mouth cancer. If not, then more than likely you're suffering from swollen glands or tonsilitis or even possibly strep throat. Have you tried gargling with warm salt water made with iodized salt or gargling with half water half peroxide? That can help alleviate the swelling. If that does not work, see the doctor. Better yet, see the doctor, if it is strep throat, you're dealing with a possibly deadly contagion.

Do you smoke? Does throat cancer run in the family? I would worry about it if yes. Otherwise go see a doctor you may have some inflammation...related to an infection with lymphadenopathy or epiglottis or pharnygitis or esophagits. You can have a cbc which will let you kw if there is an infection.

Acid Reflux. When your stomach produces too much acid. I have the same problem. I am on a pill similiar to Prilosec. In fact a few years ago i did use prilosec and it did a lot of repair to my stomach. But you should get it checked to be sure. watch your intake of spicy and greasy and take the prilosec over the counter for ten days and if its still feeling like that you need to see a throat doc. please dont let it go. Acid reflux gave my uncle esophegeal cancer. they had to remove his esophegas. look that up and you will see how that works.
Blessings
