HELP,is it throat or lung cancer?

i have a constant cough that wont go away, i have had it for months. and i cant seem to bring anything up, to clear my airways. my throat feels different and the problem seems to be getting worse. i have constant back, shoulder pains and a stiff neck. i have no energy. my doctor seems to be going down the path of its asthma, but ventolin doesnt help my condition, infact seems to make my cough and throat more dry and irratible. i feel that the medical profession is being a bit relaxed about this condition. because even if it is not cancer and it is something else, i am concerned i will have lung scarring which will give me permanent damage. please if anyone here has had lung or throat cancer what is the first signs so i can catch it quickly before it reaches my lympth system?

Maybe you are being exposed to something at work. Or something at home. Anything like spraying pesticides or any chemicals you use at work or home. Of course the smoking should be stopped so you can try to heal this problem. Your shoulders and neck are probably sore from trying to breathe, or from coughing. Use a humidifier and get some ocean nasal spray. (it helps moisten the back of the throat also).
Drink a good amout of liquids because that will help any secretions come out. Asthma doesn't usually scar your lungs but emphysema does. So if you smoke enough, emphysema might be something you could have.

The shoulder pain & stiff neck seem unlikely related to your throat problem, unless your doc suspects a virus. My guess is it's more likely more related to problems w the skeletal system (possibly arthritis), or muscle contraction (from physical or emotional stress). Yes it could still be that you're on your way to asthma, and obviously I can't diagnose you ...

Chronic coughing can also be due to gastrointestinal reflux. Especially since your throat also feels irritated. Reflux is fairly easy to treat. Ask your doc if you might get a referral to see a gastronintestinal specialist and rule this in or out.

Meanwhile, why not have your doc refer you to an oncologist so you can get peace of mind over the cancer concern ;) Or you could get a 2nd opinion from another general practitioner.

Are you a smoker? Pot? If you are a smoker, quit smoking! Something is entering your lungs other than O2...

You might have something wrong with your toncles. Try going to another docter, it 's always good to get a second proffesional oppinion ;)

do u drink a lot of fluids?? like water nd cranberry juice maybe it is not a cancer nd just a sickness if u had it for a couple of months maybe it will go away.

I would suggest maybe trying to see another doctor. It never hurts for a second opinion.

I had awful bladder problems for over 7yrs. Bad pain & pressure. One doctor just brushed me off, another said it was bladder infections & so on. I finally saw a doctor would listen to me, did a test and were able to find out what was going on. This took 7yrs!

You can ask your doctor to refer you to someone that way you can get in quicker. Most doctors shouldn't have a problem with someone wanting a second opion. If he/she won't refer you do it yourself. Start making phone calls.

My main suggestion is get in to see someone else quickly. You shouldn't be hurting or worrying.

God bless

Maybe you have a goiter. This can cause a bit of a cough, and make your throat feel funny.

You sound freightened, with reason, and quite knowledgeable
as to signs and symptoms of lung cancer......
the symptoms you have can be just about all of the different
answers given ahead of me.....all make sense.

but.......I certainly would, even for my own peace of mind
get a second opinion and ask for, although expensive, for a
broncoscope......good luck and God bless

Take a look at ( http://www.all-about-cancer.us )
There is a lot of good content and information there.

Good luck.
