Anyone have any PERSONAL experience with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? I have read all info on the 'Net but....

I was misdiagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but that didn't explain the shoulder problem. If you have had TOS, please tell me of your experience. Mine is still ongoing, almost a year now and no relief. Doctors don't seem to be familiar with it.

I also have this problem. Actually, I've had it for 6 years but they had diagnosed me with Carpal Tunnel and didn't confirm it as TOS until this year. I've been in PT but haven't had much of any relief. The doctor can't seem to identify the pathology behind my symptoms. They gave me the choice of surgery but I don't know if it's worth going through. If you want to talk in depth email me pack513@yahoo.com

See the website below for additional information on the topic of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome...

Thoracic outlet syndromes are an ill-defined group of disorders that cause pain and pins-and-needles sensations (paresthesias) in the hand, shoulder, and arm.

I was diagnosed with TOS and my doctor told me the cure was to undergo surgery to have a rib removed on the affected side. Yikes! Before I gave it any serious consideration, a coworker told me about a friend of hers who'd had that done. It only increased her pain. That firmly decided me against the surgery. I'm trying the physical therapy route.

I have not had tos but i am in school for massage therapy and from what I understand, you can have relief from massage just make sure your therapist is well qualified, and has treated others with tos.
