I have depression but don't want to attention seek.?

Depression is such a fashionable term these days that I don't want to appear to be jumping on the bandwagon but I can stay silent no longer. I can barely move because of the low feelings, I feel so bad I am sweating and thinking about death (not thinking about suicide in any way I am determined to get better and live).

However, I feel bad saying I've got depression and the nature of my personality, well the doctors don't understand. I am very emotionless I don't show my emotions so people think I am lazy and I don't know how to explain to them how I feel.

I have always felt like this, I don't remember what it's like to be happy. I have relied on drink to be able to leave the house but now I have developed alcohol neuropathy and if I continue drinking they said I might do real damage to myself so I was prescribed Thiamine and Vitamin B.

Please help me, I will even pay you to help me, I live in Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you.

Honey, I wish I had a simple answer for you. It took me overdosing, letting down my whole family that I had been taking care of my whole life, spending a week in ICU & then being put into rehab (which was completely upsurd, considering I had no drug problems, except for the day I gave up). (Just an FYI, the shrink I had in rehab, who had a Ph.D., was arrested for assault and distubution of Rx drugs, and was a user.)

I have had many therapists, and they have all sucked, and did not give a crap about their patients, except for the one I have now.

She had me do research on people who are clinically depressed. Typically, they are much more intellagent than the average, and have been critacized throughout their life for it.

For example, their teachers did not like them, and punished them for correcting them. Their friends would get angery at them because they thought they were stupid. BUT, all we were trying to do was just live without being completely annoyed out of minds.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think I am smarter than everyone else, I just think diferently. You probally do as well. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, but you don't sound like a depressed minor. I wish I could think of a more politically correct way to say that.

What I am trying to say is there are some of us out there that look at the world in a very different way, and you sound like one of those people.

It can be a very sad place to be, if you are there alone, but you don't have to be.

Let me guess... You have trouble sleeping... And when you do, you have very strange dreams that make sense to no one.
Sometimes to you, but mostly just leaves you guessing what the heck was that about.

Depression requires medical intervention or therapy. It won't go away on its own. Please seek help. Life can be beautiful again. If you are Christian, pray also.

So?? Find yourself a good psychologist. Get into counselling. Listen to your doctors.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with thinking about death. Everyone dies. It's only natural, even the occasional suicidal thought is normal. It's obsessing about death or constantly thinking about killing yourself that is a warning sign.

I think maybe getting a pet, particularly a dog, might help:)

Go for some walks in the countryside, enjoy the scenery, take up a new hobby or sport, volunteer at a home...
