Does thalassemia affect my daughter with out a family inheritance?

my daughter is 12 monthes old,her hemoglobin :14, mcv:69, and we are waiting for the iron resut ,is it possible to have a thalassemia although we have no a family history of it?

Yes it is possible if you and your husband must carry the gene for it for your daughter to get the disease. It is an autosomal recessive disease. You may not have any family history of it, because they were not affected by it. They just carry the gene and don't know it. There is also a possibility of having it without the family carrying the gene, but that's very rare.
