Trying to get pregnant, but we have 25% to have a thalassemia child...?

Well my wife and I both have a "stigma" in our blood. Our babies will have 25% to have healthy blood, 25% to have thalassemia, and 50% to have thalassemia "stigma" (just like we have)

Are there any couples out there on earth that have the same problem as us?

We are married for 6 years and we didn t try to concieve becasue of that.

You were able to let your better judgment prevail for 6 years. Why change your attitude now???

Adoption is the way to go for you.

I hate to point it out, but even two completely healthy parents without this stigma could have a sick child. What matters is that you need to love him or her the same whether he/she has healthy blood or thalassemia, and whether you're prepared and ready to care for your child if he or she is sick.

You know in advance there's this possibility - a couple I used to know didn't know they both had a gen (like your stigma) that meant that 1 chance out of four, they'd have a sick child. Their eldest son was fine, their younger boy turned out to be ill and that's how they found out. They love both boys just the same though. You know in advance, so you can prepare yourself for it. count yourself lucky cuz you get this choice.
