I think I have testicular cancer, but I have no insurance. If I come to find that I do have cancer, then what? |
I have give this some thought, If I have cancer, it might have already have spread, I found a lump on one of my nads, I looked on the internet, the only thing it referred to was testicular cancer. So if in fact I do have cancer, then I have very few options, I'd hate to leave a $100,000 bill behind me, and no insurance also the pain, with no meds hmmmm. First, just because you have a little bump doesnt mean you have cancer- there are a lot of things it could be, so dont jump to conclusions. Go get diagnosed first. Then go show up at your local hospital emergency room if you do have cancer, and throw yourself upon them. They really cant turn you away. You'll end up getting treatment one way or the other. Im not going to suggest you end it any other way than fighting cancer, by the way, and thats still a long way from even being a known factor. And by the way, why would you give a crap about dying with a $100,000 bill behind you? Its not like they can come get it from you in the afterlife, and they cant go after your family or anything, so no worries. Try your county health department; they can treat you, or refer you somewhere that can; sometimes it's a county hospital. Also, check out the possibility of participating in a clinical trial. Google Testicular clinical trials.. If you are confirmed as having cancer, you can apply for Social Security Disability and receive Medicare. I'm sure at $100,000. bill is nothing to those that love you. I personally had over a Million dollars worth of bills from chemo and cancer 15 years ago. Medicare paid all of it. Now the rules are different, you are responsible for 20% of the bills. My recurrance after 5 years clean.. cost $34,000. per week for 26 weeks. I'd rather be alive with debt and play with my wonderful grandson than have money in my pocket and be in the ground. You have options. It is better, of course, to have insurance because it is less stressful. But, people without insurance are still given all the healthcare that they need. No one is turned away. I'm not sure why you called Cancer Treatment Centers of America since they are a private facility. Instead you should locate a hospital close to you that offers the Hill Burton Free and Low Cost Healthcare. Every state in the US has at least one hospital that offers this program. These are hospitals that were built with federal funds and asked to provide free and low cost heath care for anyone who needs it: You can go to the county health clinic and get it checked/diagnosed. It could be a lot of things. There are a lot of resources there. Google "I'm Too Young for This." They have a cool website. . . you might qualify for medicaid--which sounds horrible but you can actually be treated at world class cancer centers with VERY LITTLE out of pocket costs. You are right. No one wants to pay for greed. You need to know that a physician is usually about $200 000. in debt after college, medical school, internship, surgical residency and then a urology specialty fellowship or residency to be able to treat you. So they have to pay their debts too. I think you are probably very stressed as you are not being rational. First go get the diagnosis. Then go to your county hospital who has to treat you IF you do in fact have Cancer. No one is denied treatment even illegal immigrants get paid for so try to rise above the drama , go to the free clinic and you may just be very surprised you might not have it |
