Tension headache or migraine?

hi, a couple of weeks ago I had a really bad headache, opening my eyes hurt, even in the dark and having a light on even with my eyes closed also caused pain.
This lasted for 36 hours, then I could open my eyes in the dark but that was it for another 12 hours. Then after a good nights sleep the pain seemed to have moved to the back of the head and down my neck. This lasted for another day.
In total this headache lasted for three days!
When the pain moved to the back of the head I saw a doctor who put pressure on certain parts of my head and face and because that hurt he said I had 'tension points' and that I had a tension headache.
It took a while for me to be able to do certain things again without my eyes watering.
Since then for the past two weeks every time I get tense I have a headache.
These can be different in serverity and in how long they last, the shortest has been about a day, longest four days.

Was this a migraine?
Or a tension headache?

Or both?

as a migraine sufferer i would say that is what you have been experiencing migraines can last for 72 hours some people get a migraine that comes on without warning others get what is known as aura migraines these are the type were you get zig-zags or spots before your eyes warning you that an attack is imminent i recommend you get some co-codomol from your chemist when you feel its coming on take 2 have a very sweet cup of tea then go to your darkened room & try to get some sleep good luck

It's best to consult a doc (doctor)...good luck :)

could even be cluster headaches and they're worse then maigraines

Sounds like you had a migraine headache, that turned into a tension headache when the migraine resolved.

I'm not sure if it is tension or migraine, but I have had similar headaches in the past that last for more than a day, I am sensitive to light and my eyes water. Mine seem to be caused by changes in my caffeine intake. If I normally have a coffee in the morning and then one day I don't, I usually get a headache one or two days after the caffeine change. Also watch for it in medicine! Excedrin Migraine has caffeine in it. For awhile I was taking that when I had a headache, but then when I stopped taking it I would crash from the lack of caffeine; so then I took Excedrin again. It was a never-ending cycle. So, maybe that is a possible cause of your headaches. Hope you get better soon!

Migraine.

(p.s change your GP)

Well alot of tension headaches lead into migraines.
Did you doctor prescribe medication for you? If you didn't, Excedrin makes a great migraine headache pain killer.
Make sure you are drinking alot of water and when you feel the headache come on, do some stretches to loosen up alittle.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drugs,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, TENSION, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.
