Tension headache relief? |
I get tension headaches a few times a week. They are HORRIBLE. They usually start sometime in the afternoon and usually last well into the night, to the point that they interfere with my sleep. I'm a student, so stress is always going to be a factor. However, no matter what I do after the headache starts (tons of advil, cold compresses, etc.) the pain doesn't go away! Could be a migraine, but more likely is tension. I used to get tension headaches that started in my neck and felt, like you say, a vice between my temples. No OTC drug ever worked for even a moment. The only thing that worked was the prescription drug Fiorinal. It was a lifesaver. It does contain caffeine so maybe just the caffeine could work, but I would see a doctor if I were you. It sounds like you may be experiencing migraine headaches. The sensitivity to light and nausea is a sign of that. I have had both tension and migraines. Caffeine helps for tension headaches, in fact, the tylenol tension headache pills have caffeine in them. If caffeine doesn't help, check with a doctor about migraines. hi.
