What to do for a Tension headache?

I 'VE had this tension headache for 2 days now and i don't know what to do to get rid of it.Can someone please help, tell what to do.

There is no treatment for tension. Not to take tension but face all situations couragiously is the only treatment. Pl be your own doctor.
Singing is good for you.
Massage is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.

take Exedrin..it works for me i get really bad head-aches

This might sound flaky but it works for me.. meditation! I used to get them ALL the time and i started doing yoga and meditating. I never get them anymore (unless I have been too busy to do either.. which happens on occasion). I actually used to get migraines too....which I haven't had in years now. Anyway, I saw at my local library, some beginner yoga dvds i could borrow - perhaps yours would have some too, just to get you started.

If you're not comfy with doing either of the above perhaps try working out, going for a run or bike ride. You just need something to get your blood going and so you can get your mind off of your troubles!

Hope that helps!
Cheers

hmm... one easy way is to just off the lights, close your eyes and then relax, try not to toss and turn too much. if that doesn't help take an aspirin or paracetamol and rest.

tension headache can be really irritating especially if you have work to do, but seriously, rest is all you need. if it still doesnt get better better go to the doctor to check out what's wrong, could be sinus headache.

take care and rest well.

hmm i get those sometimes.
i go law down in a dark room with little or no noise.
if you can stand it put on some calming music or a farmiliar t.v. show down low.
or for a quick fix drink lots and lots of caffeine
liek mt.dew energy drinks.
they work its amazing

The easiest cures for tension type headaches, without medications, is to use relaxation techniques, such as yoga, guided or self imagery, hypnosis, or biofeedback. However, for someone with out these resources, if you take an anti-inflammatory medication (such as motrin or naproxen) if you have no gastic issues or other problems which would prevent the use of NSAIDs. Do some gentle neck stretches, Then relax in a darkened room, with soft music and an ice packm cold compress or even a wrapped bag of frozen vegetables (I know it sounds strange but it makes a cheap and easy ice bag) on your forehead/temple area. Try to visualize in your mind somewhere peaceful, such as a mountain lake, or lying in a hammock on a Caribbean island. Usually the headache will decrease or be gone in 15 to 30 minutes.

Finally, try this acupressure technique
Search for a painful point 1/16th - 1/4th inch (3-6 mm) behind your thumb nail and press it, preferably with a rounded small object (about the size of a ball point pen, though I have had success using the thumbnail of the opposite hand), your headache should decrease or will disappear in about 30 seconds. If the pain is felt on the forehead or eye the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 1/16th - 1/4th inch (3-6 mm) below. I find that it works best applying the pressure to the same side as the predominant headache pain.

Hope these techniques help.

If not, it may not be a simple tension headache, and it might be good to be seen, get your blood pressure checked and a general examination.
