Tennis elbow treatment?

i have been diagnosed as having tennis elbow. been on anti inflamitary tablets 6 weeks. still in major pain. been told by mates that can have injection straight into elbow, but the injection dead painful is it true? or are they winding me up. they know im a big coward when needles are about

A cortisone shot works once, and then not again (that's the injection into the elbow). Icing it helps, as well as gently stretching or massing the tendon. (This is also one of the few conditions that massage therapy or chirpractic can help.)
I've had three cortisone shots in the elbow & they're not terribly painful, just increasingly less effective after the first shot.
A brace around the upper forearm, just below the elbow, will take some of the stress off of the tendon that's causing it - this helped mine tremendously. Try not to grip too hard if you're weightlifting.
Mine took 2-4 months to heal but it still bugs me a little from time to time (like today). Stretching, massaging, and icing the tendon will help also.

try going to the docter and dont play for a while--

had tennis elbow last year i was feared about cortisone inj.. but no need to worry it didnt hurt,, just a bit of an ache 4 hours after then it cleared up and its still ok now

I keep getting recurring tennis elbow. I have had cortisone injections about once every 6 months. Yes my GP does inject the cortisone into the elbow and yes it does feel very uncomfortable. The discomfort lasts for at most 24 hours and then I am completely pain free for at least 6 months and don't have to worry about taking other medication. Go to your GP and get a cortisone injection it is well worth it, just don't look when he puts the needle in! Good luck.

The injection is not painless, but most people tell me it was not as bad as they were expecting. It has a 70% sucess rate in good hands. The other option is physiotherapy, this has an even higher sucess rate, but can be very time consuming. Unfortunately.other than dulling the pain a bit, anti-inflammatories don't seem to speed up resolution much.
