Will tendinitis get better with resting the wrist?

I have had tendinitis in my right wrist for five months now. I have been through the physio programme for two months. It only made it hurt more. So I quit that and went to another doctor for a second opinion. He told me to wear a brace and take an anti inflamatory for ten days (celebrex). It still is not getting better. I have talked to someone else who said just to rest it and it will get better on its own. I don't know what to try next. Any suggestions.

It is caused by lifting heavy trays. I have had to learn to use my left hand to lift.

Rest is good. Use ice. But try a natural healer called Arnica. You can get it from health food stores and it is very inexpensive .You put couple of pills to the dry mouth and let it dissolve and do not drink anything for next 30 min.

Use ice...my brother has awful tendonitis in his knees, but he ices them after every run and is therefore able to run track and cross country year round!

Good luck...I know it can be a pain! Best wishes.

Yes, I think resting it over time is the only thing that truly works.
You don't say if you discovered the cause of the tendinitis. The main thing that helped mine was time and perseverance. I wore a gel pad brace, iced it down for 10 minutes (with an ice cube) every couple of hours or so. Phys Therapy didn't seem to make much of a difference at the time. I stopped doing the repetitive grasping (writing) that was the irritant. After 3 or 4 months, I had most my strength back in my hand. I still couldn't go back to writing by hand all the time. Also, I don't know that celebrex is any better than just ibuprofen. The side effects of celebrex are many, so if it isn't working, it might not be worth the risk. I used Anica topical ointment and I also tried traumeel. Ibuprofen gel caps worked as well as the prescriptions. Be patient, because I think it can take awhile depending on how far it progressed...

Rest helps. I don't want to hold back anything, so I need to admit I got relief from Dr Franks' pain remedy when I broke my leg. It is a homiopathic remedy, invented by a guy I spoke to personally, who claims to be a medical doctor. I don't vouch for his references, but the stuff worked for me.

Hopefully if you splint it and try not to use it, ice it, and use anti-inflammitories it will go away in 4-6 weeks. After that time if its still not better a cortisone shot would be the next step
