Is Tendinitis of the wrist the same thing as a sprained wrist? |
i have tendinitis in my right wrist. i was wondering if it was the same thing as a sprained wrist? No. Tendinitis is when the tendon sheaths become swollen and inflamed, making movement painful and difficult. This is somestimes caused by overuse. Tendons connect bones to muscles. A sprained wrist will eventually work itself out and heal. The muscles and tendons and joints will settle back down. no No, they are different no/yes. They can both be due to overuse/misuse of the tendon in the wrist. A sprain is when the tendon has been stretched too far. Tendonitis is more of an inflammation of the tendon. I don't think so, Tendinitis is an inflamation of the tendons. Sprains are usually caused by overextension or overstretching. NO - a sprained wrist will go away. Tendinitis will come back whenever you aggravate your wrist/work it too hard. I've never had a sprain, but I have tendinitis in my ankle; whenever i run, it swells up. When it's inflamed, I can feel the tendon is hard and swollen. |
