Drugs are they that bad?

I agree that cocaine & heroin are potentially addictive and dangerous drugs. But drugs such as Ectacy are statistically far less likely to kill than tobacco & alcohol.

Also if I had a teenage daughter I would be more confident of her safety in a room full of ectacy takers than in a room for of drunks.

(I apologise if you or anyone you know have been affected by drugs - but it just seems to me there are double standards we can drink and smoke to will kill ourself yet ectacy is outlawed).

Just for everyone's information...different Ecstasy pills can contain one or more of the following: Heroin, Speed, Meth, Special K.

E can be just as dangerous as other drugs. The body heats up way too much and can cause death quite easily if you over do it. Plus sometimes it is laced with other drugs magnifying the effects so it's more dangerous in the sense if you don't know what you're getting, it's a bad thing.

Albeit, if you are getting prescription drugs, tehre are tons that are way more dangerous but at the same time, they're hopefully somewhat regulated.

it's not the social user that's the problem. It's users as a whole' Drugs are bad for society.

the only the reason the stats aren't showing anything with ecstasy is because it's still new enough to not have caught up with all the other drug stats that have been around for 50 years. Ecstasy is dangerous. i cannt believe how ignorant you are on this topic. you need to do some research and then have your mama whoop your butt.
and if you had a teenaged daughter and allowed that kind of behavior, i would have the cops at your house immediately. as well as CPS.
as far your comment in relation to alcohol, i cannot disagree. alcohol causes many many problems and it's glorified usage in society makes me ill however that is another topic. go do some more reading. and i hope to heck you don't have any children.

Many people don't know the difference between drugs like ecstasy and heroin and will consider them to be equally harmfull.

They ignorantly assume that if something is legal, it must be safer than something that's illegal.

i think extacy makes your brain almost to a boiling point , not safe at all , you will make worse decions on x than being drunk . Drugs are bad , take it from me I have done them all a cople of times . Cocaine wil ruin your life really fast , anything you shoot up you are instantly addicted . the only good one is weed . Weed is much safer than alcohol , if I were a parent after doing everything , i would rather my kid smoke weed than drink

i think either way you look at it..its all bad. im 16 and my mom lets me drink with her..but never too much. I believe taking anything other than alcohol is bad. my mom smokes but she still realizes that being addicted to isnt so great..Why do people give into things that control them..i thought as humans we control them. I think you should never be confident to have ur daughter in a room full of ectacy users..i heard of this one lady taking it one time and it instantly kiling her. ITs BAD..OK..THATS IT..ectacy might be less to kill but..that may be beacause many dont use it..other than that..them ppl are screwd..

I am a former drug user and when I started using at the age of 26 it was just 'social' using after work...on weekends...on payday....15 years later, I was unemployed, homeless and a wreck! Today, I have been clean for over 2 years...if I have any advice it is DRUGS DESTROY! I cannot get the years I lost to drug addiction but I can use the rest of my life to try and save someone's life so they won't have to go through what i did. I was one of the lucky ones, drugs do more than destroy...DRUGS KILL.

Actually heroin is a very safe and benign drug, provided it comes from a safe source so you know the strength and purity. Like marijuana, the drug policy surrounding heroin is more harmful than the drug itself.

You echo my own feeling from my first exposure to people high on marijuana, back in 1967. It only took me a few minutes to conclude that a group of pot smokers is more pleasant company than a group of booze hounds.

I used marijuana regularaly for about 30 years. Unless I told you, you wouldn't know. It didn't interfere with my becoming "a successful adult" at all. I never made a conscious decision to quit, I simply realized one day that it had been several years since I had indulged and felt no urge to resume use.

I have tried ecstacy, and i had a friend who was hooked. not so much an actual addiction, but a mental hook, which can be just as bad.

he started stealing from his parents, his friends, credit card fraud. became an all around peice-of-**** guy.

I agree with your point on drinking, why can we drink, but not take acid?, why tobacco and not marijuana?

Drugs are drugs folks....Ecstasy is no different from any other.

First off, one bad tab can kill you...bam that's it, game over. Not only that...but you think you're daughter is safe in a room full of boners with feet?

And two, cocaine and heroin are not "potentially addictive" ...There is no "potentially" about it....I speak from experience...they ARE addictive, don't believe anyone who says they aren't. Speed and vicodin are right up there with them.

And three, You can go smoke a cigarette and not "knock off" a liqour store because you're "soo high", you can smoke a cigarette without driving like an idiot and broadsiding a bus full of nuns. You can smoke a cigarette and damage only yourself. (I don't agree with it...I quit those too after ten years, they are stupid and dangerous, but I wasn't hurting anyone else.)

And as far as drinking...It's not alcohol that's killing people...it's people's stupidity and lack of control that is killing people. Why people drink and get behind the wheel of a car I will never understand...however, alcohol is still less chemically damaging than all the recreational drugs out there...even pot, it lowers your sperm count and increases the chance of SIDS in a newborn by like 50%.

It just really does bother me that people can't take responsibility for their actions...temptations will always always always be there...just because they're there, doesn't make us guilt free for partaking in them.
